Looking for a camp for your child to make friends, play games, and experience activities like never before? Access to Nature Camp is a specially designed inclusion program for campers with disabilities that offers modified versions of camp activities in Columbia's most popular camp. At Nature Camp our Access campers will participate alongside their peers in all Nature Camp activities including canoeing, archery, fishing, sports, crafts, swimming and more. Canoeing and archery are lead by Nature Camp's certified instructors and modified with safety and accessibility in mind for each camper. Campers will have opportunities throughout the day to participate in camp activities with same age, non-disabled peers, creating a truly inclusive camp. Peer interactions and friendship building will be facilitated by camp staff. Access to Nature Camp is staffed with trained employees who have experience working with children with special needs. Many of our employees work for area school districts and are committed to enhancing the lives of children with disabilities. Access to Nature Camp will provide a low staff-camper ratio of 1:2 in order to best meet the needs of our campers. Every new camper and parent/guardian must participate in an entrance interview with camp staff prior to enrollment to ensure a proper fit and to develop reasonable modification of daily activities. Returning campers do not need to set up a meeting. Activities are subject to change due to inclement weather. One on one supervision will not be provided.
What to Bring: In addition to a non-perishable lunch, campers need to bring a swimsuit and towel daily. Campers must wear closed-toe shoes.
