More About Camp
Adirondack Leadership Expeditions is a character development program for students ages 13-17 that promotes personal growth through a focus on insight-oriented experiences. The forested, mountain setting removes urban distractions and simplifies options to help students gain insight into their core values and accept responsibility for their choices. Our program's nurturing approach helps participants address personal issues, achieve success in a safe environment, and develop their leadership potential. Set in the beautiful Adirondack mountains near Saranac Lake, New York, our leadership expeditions offer individualized treatment plans, flexible lengths of stay, master's and doctorate level counselors, individual counseling, and a powerful family involvement component.
The goal of Adirondack Leadership Expeditions is to teach participants to think more insightfully, assess their abilities, improve communication skills and practice healthy behavioral habits.
Moving to the wilderness is a significant life change. It removes students from their "emotional comfort zone" and requires different skills to care for themselves. The simplicity of the wilderness environment helps them recognize the results of their behavioral choices and encourages them to try different coping strategies.
