More About Camp
Camp is fun! The activities are great! The friendship and support are awesome!

Camp Seale Harris was founded in 1947 with the belief that children who strived to achieve "full chemical control" could achieve good health and minimize their risk of diabetes related complications. This belief, now verbalized as teaching, practicing and reinforcing techniques of intensive diabetes management, continues as the foundation of our program today.

Camp Seale Harris believes that children are children first. They happen to live with a health challenging condition.

Diabetes Education is the cornerstone of all Camp Seale Harris programs. Fun, interacive and informative Diabetes Education sessions are included in the daily schedule of the Children's Summer Programs. Diabetes Education Seminars addressing various issues of interest to parents and caregivers are offered several times during the Family Programs.

Teams of leading diabetes care professionals from pediatric and childrens diabetes clinics, clinical practices, medical training programs and other diabetes affiliations volunteer their time and expertise in diabetes management to encourage, motivate, teach, and provide medical care to program participants.

Personnel trained in diabetes management are always present to provide supervision and care of children during the Children's Summer Programs.

Camp Seale Harris teaches that you can learn to live with the challenges presented by diabetes. We recognize that diabetes in an unfortunate inconvenience. However, it doesn't have to impose limits on your life. Diabetes doesn't have to control you, you can learn to control your diabetes!
