ALL PROGRAMS ARE SET TO PROVIDE A 2:1 OR A 3:1 RATIO FOR CAMPER TO STAFF, BASED UPON THE NEEDS OF THE CHILD. ANY CHILD REQUIRING A 1:1 ATTENDANT, MUST BE PROVIDED BY THE PARENT AND/OR CAREGIVER. PLEASE CONTACT DIRECTOR OF PROGRAMS FOR FURTHER DETAILS.
Dream Oaks Camp Dream Oaks Camp provides programs for children with physical and developmental disabilities and chronic serious illnesses by offering camping experiences on weekends, at day camp and at resident camp.
Weekend Camp: Programs run Friday evening through Sunday morning during the school year. Campers stay for two nights and meals are provided.
Day Camp: Programs run daily from 8:30 a.m. through 3:30 p.m. daily Monday through Friday during the summer. Lunch is provided.
Residential Camp: Programs begin on Monday at 8:30 a.m. and end on Friday at 3:30p.m. weekly during the summer. Campers stay for four nights and meals are provided.
All activities are planned and implemented to meet the abilities of each camper. Programs are designed to be fun, educational, safe and wholesome.
Recreational and educational activities include:
Arts and crafts Guest Presenters Awards ceremony Horseback riding Boat rides Music & Songs Campfires Nature Programs Canoeing Sports and Games Dancing Swimming Fishing Talent shows
Respite Care for Family By providing these programs to campers, we are giving parents, guardians, and caregivers the opportunity for a respite from the immediate responsibility of daily care for a child with a disability. They have the opportunity to spend time with a spouse, with other children or with friends. They can relax, free from some of life's daily stresses and perhaps recreate, shop or even vacation. Dream Oaks Camp is located a few short miles from the Florida Gulfcoast and its' sandy beaches and a few hours from the theme parks of Orlando. Parents and family members can relax, knowing that their child is receiving competent care and attention.
