More About Camp
Lone Star Expeditions is the alternative to boot camp environments, licensed to offer students ages 13-17 outdoor experiential therapy, while working under the care of doctorate and master's level licensed therapists. Based in the temperate climate of southeast Texas, Lone Star Expeditions is a therapeutic program designed by clinicians to provide a focus on assessment, intervention and aftercare. In a traditional camp setting free of modern distractions, students have the opportunity to simplify choices, gain insight into their values, and learn to accept responsibility for their decisions. As they progress through the program's level system, students experience success and develop healthy self-esteem. Program emphasis on keeping parents connected to facilitate overall family growth.
The goal of Lone Star Expeditions is to teach students to think more insightfully, to accurately assess their strengths and weaknesses, develop personal goals, and to identify behavioral strategies that will lead them to success in the future.
Moving to the wilderness is a significant life change. It shifts students outside of their "emotional comfort zone" because it requires them to master different skills to care for themselves. The simplicity of the choices available in the outdoors helps them recognize the results of their behavioral choices and encourages them to try different coping skills.
Lone Star Expeditions is not a boot camp. Lone Star's therapeutic focus is an insight-oriented experience, rather than behavior modification. Our nurturing approach helps students look at personal issues, experience success in a safe setting, and focus on developing healthy family relationships.
Lone Star Expeditions specializes in helping adolescents ages 13-17 who are experiencing emotional, behavioral, attention, or learning problems.
