More About Camp
Bay Cliff Health Camp is a private, not-for-profit, non-denominational summer therapy center licensed by the Department of Social Services for children with physical disabilities and speech-language impairments. Originally established in 1933, Bay Cliff has served the children of the Upper Peninsula of Michigan as well as those living beyond the U.P. since the summer of 1934. Approximately 170 children are in attendance each year. The children need to be eligible for one or more of the therapies offered and are referred by the therapists in their school or home area. Eligibility requirements do apply (call the camp office for details). Final selections are made by the Bay Cliff staff. While the emphasis is on providing therapy, classes in nature, swimming, boating, recreation and arts & crafts are also provided as well as typical summer camp activities. The camp furnishes all the bedding and clothing for the children for the entire seven weeks. Bay Cliff was once a dairy farm, and the traditions of wholesome living, good manners, friendship and hospitality are emphasized. Children go home with new skills, new friendships, and memories for a lifetime!
