More About Camp
Meadowood is a 40-year-old therapy camp for children with speech and hearing disorders that severely impair their ability to communicate. The children are referred to Meadowood by public school speech clinicians and other professionals. Meadowood offers two 10-day camping experiences to more than 100 children (6 to 16 years of age) with one-on-one intensive speech therapy as well as the joys of an outdoor shared camping experience with other children like themselves. A 10-day immersion experience at Meadowood, working with clinicians/counselors and practicing communicating with peers, can have results equivalent to one-half year's speech therapy in school.
Meadowood is also a clinical training program for upper-class level and graduate speech pathology students who earn college credits for their work at camp. The clinical students also receive clinical clock hours toward their clinical certification by the American Speech-Language and Hearing Association.
