Activities include: crafts, drama, nature study, swimming, boating, sports and games. Activities are adapted so that all children can participate regardless of their disability.

Financial Assistance Available

Camp Burnt Gin is offered at no charge to the campers and their families.

All meals are planned by a dietitian. Camp staff work with families to meet campers' special dietary requirements.

Camp Burnt Gin, founded in 1945 and located near Sumter, South Carolina is a residential summer camp for children who have physical disabilities and chronic illnesses. Camp Burnt Gin operates six-day and four-day sessions.

Counselors, in a ratio of one counselor for every three campers, live with the children and assist them with their daily needs and adjustment to camp life. Two registered nurses staff the infirmary and a nearby Pediatric Practice serves as our doctors on call.

Enrollment is limited to children from South Carolina. The application is available on our website in February and the deadline to apply is April1.
