Parents/Guardians/Caregivers/Companions, Grandparents, and Siblings are welcome to attend family programs like our Fall Family Camp with their heart child.

Our current 2025 schedule:

WINTER CAMP: Feb. 15-17. A weekend to bond with other heart heroes (grades 1-12) in February in Amery, WI. We enjoy tubing, broomball, arts & crafts, plenty of hot cocoa, and connecting with heart friends! There is always a choice to do indoor activities. Kids are grouped based on age and stay in cozy retreat-style housing with two camp counselors and a cabin nurse. Similar to our Summer Camp, a camp cardiologist is also on-site to supervise activities.

MOMS RETREAT (2 weekend options): May 3-4 in White Bear Lake, MN and May 17-18 in Lake Geneva, WI. This retreat is available for moms of heart children grades 12 or younger (no minimum age). A weekend for parents to provide mutual support, take time for self-care, gain new resources and learn from experts.

SUMMER CAMP (in Crosslake, MN): Three sessions of overnight camp per grade level (grades 1-11). A 5-day overnight camp experience with horseback riding, water sports, arts and crafts, archery, campfires, talent show and more. Free transportation provided from Minneapolis. July 14-18 (grades 1-6), July 21-25 (grades 9-11), July 28-August 1 (grades 6-8). Camp nurses distribute personal medication and a cardiologist is on site.

SUMMER CAMP (in Elkhorn, WI near Milwaukee / Chicago): One session of overnight camp per grade level (grades 1-11). A 5-day overnight camp experience with horseback riding, water sports, arts and crafts, archery, campfires, talent show and more. Free transportation provided from Milwaukee and Chicago. June 23-27 (grades 1-11). Camp nurses distribute personal medication and a cardiologist is on site.

DADS DAY (in Prior Lake, MN): A day of outdoor recreation and activities to build camaraderie and connection between parents of children with heart disease.

FAMILY CAMP (2 sessions) October and November (dates to be confirmed). The October session is held in Amery, WI (near Minneapolis/St. Paul) and the November session is held in Camp Lake, WI (near Milwaukee/Chicago). Family Camp is available for the entire family with heart children grade 12 or younger (no minimum age). A weekend packed with creative and friendship-building activities plus educational opportunities for parents.

Financial Assistance Available

Camp Odayin has a Pay-What-You-Can model for camp registrations that supports our commitment to make our programs accessible to everyone in our community. For example, it costs Odayin $1,000 per camper for one week of summer camp and we ask families to pay what they can toward that cost. There will always remain an option to pay $0.

Camp Odayin provides full service meals prepared on site including breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks. Parents disclose food allergies (nuts, eggs, milk, etc.) and restrictions (no pork, vegetarian, etc.) in the camp application.

Camp Odayin provides medically safe and emotionally supportive camp experiences and community building opportunities for young people with congenital heart disease and their families. The lives of our campers positively impacted by connecting them with friends who face similar medical challenges in the formative years when relationships, fun, and acceptance are vitally important!

We offer travel assistance by reimbursing your family up to $200 for travel costs per program. Free bus transportation is available for summer and winter camps.

Camp Odayin partners with camp locations in MN and WI and our families generally come from the upper mid-west region of the US (Minneapolis, Milwaukee and Chicago). However, children from all over have attended our in-person camp and virtual activities. In a typical year we have about 850+ heart heroes and family members join us at camp from 15+ different states!
