Camp Midicha has a staff of certified and student dieticians working for the better health of our campers. We use the carbohydrate counting method to control calories and regulate each meal to better control insulin levels. At Camp Midicha we have breakfast, mid-morning snack, lunch, afternoon snack, dinner, and nighttime snack, so you will never go hungry.
After the American Diabetes Association was formed, Camp Midicha was established in 1955. Its name is derived from the words Michigan Diabetes Children's Association. Although the Michigan Diabetes Children's Association is no longer in existence, the name Camp Midicha has become synonymous with excellence and is still used today. Camp Copneconic, the campgrounds Camp Midicha utilizes, is accredited by the American Camping Association. The American Diabetes Association operates Camp Midicha and the Camp Committee establishes camp policies. Camp Midicha has a full-time medical staff of doctors, nurses, and dietitians in residence. All of your child's diabetes care supplies will be provided: insulin, syringes, lancets, meters, and strips.
