We host recreational programs for people with special needs. Our programs allow participants to experience the adventure of camp and the great outdoors while working towards specific developmental achievements. Programming melds a progressive curriculum with an exciting recreational environment to inspire participants to increase their independence, develop meaningful relationships, improve their physical health, and expand their quality of life.
Camp Lotsafun features all of the activities one would expect from a traditional camp such as: swimming, archery, sports, nature hikes, campfires, and arts & crafts. We also incorporate activities to improve physical health, develop social skills, and build confidence, through music, dance, drama, pet therapy, team building, and challenge courses. While each of these activities is inherently fun, there are specific educational benefits woven into everything we do. Camp sessions vary by season, lasting three days to one week in duration.
We also offer one-day and over-night mini-programs are purposefully designed to create one-of-a-kind social and educational opportunities for our campers, and allow families to grab frequent breaks between seasonal camps.
Our programs benefit any child, teen, or adult with an intellectual, developmental, learning, communication, and/or emotional disability. Diagnoses may include but are not limited to: Asperger’s syndrome, autism, down syndrome, attention deficit/hyperactivity, processing disorders, bipolar disorder, depression, cerebral palsy, traumatic brain injury, and various intellectual disabilities.
Participants are 7 years old to 70+ years young. Fun and adventure is a rite-of-passage, and for this reason, we never age people out of our programs.

Our journey began in 1973. It was a time of pet rocks, bean bag chairs, and bell bottoms, when life seemed more carefree. We introduced a modest outdoor recreational program at the Clear Creek Camp near Carson City for the residents of the Nevada Mental Health Institute. The goal was simple…provide patients with opportunities to develop skills and experience life beyond their normal environment. Some people saw this as a very tall order. We saw it as a labor of love. We discovered when you took people with special needs and gave them ways to engage, explore, and grow like the rest of us, well, they did!
The Amplify Life legacy of serving spans an impressive 42 years. While vinyl records, mood rings and polyester suits are considered passé, one thing that never goes out of style is compassion. For decades we’ve been practicing it. Our programs have enhanced the quality of life for thousands of people affected by mood and neurodevelopment disorders, and intellectual and developmental disabilities. We’ve supported their families and caregivers, providing valuable respite by creating services that contribute to the emotional, social, and physical welfare of the entire disabled family unit.
It’s an impressive legacy and we’re just getting started!
