Campers should bring a sack lunch with them to camp each day.

Easterseals Oregon's Day Camp offers an enriching 5-day program designed to cater to the diverse needs and interests of children aged 10-14 with disabilities. The camp, held in various Portland Metro locations, features themed days to achieve specific learning objectives while ensuring a safe and engaging environment. Each session is crafted to meet the community's needs, based on the ESO needs assessment survey.

The camp's structure involves morning and afternoon blocks dedicated to each day's theme, allowing campers to explore and advocate for their interests.

Monday kicks off with an Arts theme, focusing on creative expression through group art projects, decorations for shared spaces, and engaging outdoor and indoor art activities like chalk murals, drawing, coloring, ceramics, and sculpting.

Tuesday shifts to Nature, emphasizing connections with the natural world. Campers participate in a nature stroll, plant herbs and vegetables to take home, and create nature collages.

Wednesday gears up with the Sports theme, encouraging campers to stay active and engage in sports fandoms. Activities include adaptive sports games like basketball and kickball, along with team banner creation and cheer design to foster camaraderie.

Thursday turns to Performance, honing communication skills and musical talents. Campers build instruments, participate in sing-alongs, and prepare for the Friday Talent Show.

Friday serves as a culmination day, offering opportunities to revisit earlier activities such as arts and crafts, outdoor play, and a special Talent Show. Parents and guardians are invited to observe and support their children's performances, creating a sense of accomplishment and community engagement.

The program's thematic progression ensures a holistic and balanced experience for campers, fostering creativity, connection with nature, physical activity, and self advocacy skills. With a thoughtful approach to inclusivity and individual interests, Easterseals Oregon's Day Camp provides a memorable and supportive environment for children with disabilities.
